I've setup MythTV (version 0.16) on a Debian box (using the unofficial apt package), and configured the backend. I've run mythfilldatabase (successfully) and started the backend from the /etc/init.d script (no errors were reported to the log). When I try to connect to the backend however, nothing seems to happen. Connecting using mythfrontend gives the following error:
Unexpected response to MYTH_PROTO_VERSION:

I tried to access the backend using mythweb, and got a very similar error:
*User Notice* at /usr/share/mythtv/mythweb/includes/mythbackend.php, line 132:
Unexpected response to MYTH_PROTO_VERSION 'MYTH_PROTO_VERSION 13':

From these errors, it seems that the backend is not responding when a frontend connects to it...

Has anyone else run into a problem like this? How did you solve it?
