However it most certainly is capable of outputting a 16:9 picture (or any
other aspect ratio you like) - you just have to set your TV manually to
display it as such.

A lot of people have reported poor SVideo output on NV18 nVidia cards. If you
check your Xorg.0.log file what does it say you have?

Via the connection to the backend.

any plans to fix this?
For those of you in UK this particularly applies to BBC3 and BBC4 and
presumably most of the Topup TV channels for anyone with a suitable DVB-T
card and a CAM.

It's a personal choice, but I don't feel that the core recording
functionality of my PVR should be dependent it having access to a working
internet connection.

have a 4:3 display. Mplayer seems to do the same, but fortunately Xine does
take account of the aspect ratio.

e able to do that, but it would be at the expense of losing
vertical resolution.
The best way to solve it is to add a DisplaySize line to your xorg.conf file
to specify a display size with an aspect ration of 16:9. Something like:
DisplaySize 400 225
Myth will then output 16:9 to fill the screen an
2 (correct) and is 64 minutes long, but that the watch
recordings screen shows the programme as running from 7:58pm to 9:00pm. This
is with no other recording scheduled to start immediately afterwards.
It's obviously not causing me any problems, but strikes me as slightly
inconsistent behaviour.

Yes, I have one in my system. It is BT based (but working fine for me).

other tables), I've corrected all the parameters so that it is at least
correct and it now all works fine. It has also solved the tuning problems for
that mux on the Avermedia card.

that mux on the Avermedia card. However, if it can get a lock to display a

Any ideas?
I realise the remote itself is a bit naff, but only want to use it to program

I've tried manually setting the bandwidth, constallation, trans mode and

I've seen various references to TS vs PS mode, but not sure quite how this
all works as yet. Is the entire mux data stream read across the PCI bus in
the former case? If so, is this contributing to the problem?

robably also use it to get the system up and running initially
before I build the sync convertor.
It sounds like an nVidia chipset based card is probably the way to go, but
can anyone provide a more specific recommendation for a UK spec card?
