I've just started working on getting mythgame working, and am having some
success. If I don't use a catver.ini file the mythgame rom browser shows
me the system genre and gamename (I took out year). If I use a populated
catver.ini, I get system and genre, but I can't go past genre to select

That did it! The stupid RPM had a DOS format catver.ini. I just ran
dos2unix against it and it works like a charm.
Thanks.

I've gone through everything I can find online, went to a higher-end RF
modulator, and replaced all my cables with Monster cables, and the

is still not as good as my Tivo. It's not really noticable when
watching
TV, but the text in Myth is very fuzzy.
Have you been able to test
I'm using an Asus FX5200 with component out right now, and I'm finding the
output to be fuzzy. The onscreen guide is barely readable. Part of my
problem is I have to use a RF modulator because none of my TVs have
component input.

I do, mostly. I did a clean install from ATRPMs. Ripping CDs doesn't work
so good. The frontend exits as soon as I select Import CD. But playback
works exactly as expected, even the visualizations work.
Transcoding doesn't work, and every thread just dries up. Ripping
perfect DVDs works fine,

Whew! I thought I was alone! I don't know what the transcode command
line that mtd runs is, but running transcode by hand against a perfect
ripped file creates a perfectly usable MPEG file.
I see this has been asked a few time before, but no
answers, so I'll try again. Now that the transcode
Where is a good source for a PVR-250 card (model 980). I've seen people
mention that they're available for around $90, but I can't find them any
less than about $130. Newegg and Amazon both carry them. Also, I'm not
looking at the MCE cards, as I'll be needing the remote.
Thanks.
I saw some time ago that transcode was fixed in the atrpm repository, and
I have the latest rpms. I'm trying to make an excellent copy of a DVD,
and have lots of free space. The DVD gets ripped, but during the
transcoding the files just disappear. No file is written to the mythvideo

I'm a noobie, but have you setup mythfilldatabase in cron? If so, maybe
the cron job isn't working correctly. Try running mythfilldatabase from
the command line and see if it populates the database. On my connection,
it takes FOREVER to download the channel guide data.

I have the new RPMs, and the DVD rip menu works now, which didn't before.
And, I can rip a perfect copy of a DVD, but when I try to transcode the
file to excellent quality it doesn't create the file. The DVD is ripped
to the drive, but somewhere in the transcode it deletes the file. I'm a
I'm setting up my first myth box, and am struggling with a few issues.
One is that I have a dial-up connection because there isn't any available
broadband in my area. And, mythweather isn't real dial-up friendly. It
pretty often fails to get updates and especially retrieve the radar

I was more thinking of telling mythweather to cache the data for 4 hours,
then retrieving it in the morning, when I look at it. If such a thing
were possible, it could retrieve the data in the background, and wouldn't
get it again unless someone went into it after mid-morning. And, if the
