Noobie alert!
I'm building a new box, and would like to drive The Worlds Cheapest
SurroundSound Receiver (tm). I'm looking at a:
CHAINTECH SKT600 VIA KT600 ATX AMD Motherboard
cheap, lots of PCI slots, 2 serial (for modem and IRBlaster)
2 -SAMSUNG SpinPoint 160GB 7200 RPM HDs - mirrored

I think that means there is a mixer setting that switches between using
the Microphone and Line In ports for Center and Rear channels

It's a Chaintech SKT600's onboard sound. Another poster said that he's seen
onboard audio that uses the other stereo ports to support surround sound. I
had thought that the external codec was probably dependant on Windows
drivers. I downloaded the manual and it says With external high
I've looked at MythTV before, but for one reason or another never set it up.
So, I'm looking at it again. My goal is to demo MythTV using an old
motherboard I have laying around, and if it does everything I need, replace
my Tivo (maybe with a backend slave/frontend for a second room).
