I did manage to get it resolved, it seems it was a problem with fvwm2
I switched to ratpoison and that seems to work fine
'apt-get install ratpoison' should work if you have debian, then its
just a matter of altering your .xinitrc to suit. I also had some success

Ive just upgraded to 0.18, and now myth-tv refuses to run in fullscreen
properly. Live TV appears in a window, despite it being set as
fullscreen, and the window has been shifted up and to the left.
My lcd panel is a 15:9 (1280x768) aspect ratio, so the 16:9 video data
wont match up correct

After upgrading to a 2.6.10 kernel from 2.6.7, mythtv-setup now
segfaults after asking whether i want to clear card/channel settings,
and spits out these messages:
2005-03-02 20:19:06.269 Switching to square mode (blue)
mythtv: could not connect to socket
mythtv: No such file or directory

still segfaults, so i have no idea how to fix
that, but the dvb card works again, which is nice :)
