I've got a Yamaha HTR-5550 receiver that receives input from (among
other places) my mythtv box. This is an analog input: the cord is a
male 1/8" stereo plug (PC side) that splits into two RCA connectors
(amp side). The motherboard is the Chaintech 7NIF2.
Recently, I've noticed that when I'm not

Yes, I forgot to mention that, indeed, I start ntpd *after
I tried recording with MythTV for the first time last night.
Everything work as expected---except for the time! My computer was
running 15 minutes fast, so my recorded TV was off.
Now I'm struggling with NTP. Actually, I've been struggling with
ntp for some time now. I've followed the gentoo w

I've done a bit of searching, but can't seem to find a definitive
answer to the question, "what is the correct xorg modeline to use
for the Samsung HLR5067W HDTV?"
This is about the best I've found thus far:
Modeline "1280x720" 79.159 1280 1424 1552 1760 720 723 730 750
But it's still overscann
Looking at standalone DVD players, many of them claim to be
"upsampling" or "upconverting". If I understand correctly, this
means that they do some kind of magic to upconvert/upsample the DVD
video to 720p or 1080i.
If that definition is accurate, does the upsampling make a
(positive) difference

Does it not work for everyone due to hardware, or that it "just
won't work" for
