I rest my case..
Hauppauge has been a whole lot more helpful with linux development
than any of the other TV tuner cards manufacturers. For instance,
check into Linux support for the TV tuner in the All-In-Wonder series.

Is you're point that most of the tuner card drivers are reverse
engineered and come from community/OSS development?
There is the plextor convertX *shrug* that has manufacturer supplied
linux drivers IIRC

I am helping a friend to setup a myth box using the ATI TV Wonder Pro
with a conexant 2388 chipset. I have everything working except being
able to get myth to play tv, I can cat /dev/video0 | test.mpg and then
mplayer can play
