I would really like something to monitor the load, disk space, open TCP

I have installed and configured Nagios 3.2.0. For now I'm only check to
servers. I want to receive e-mails when some of the services or server
fail. For this I wrote this in the file commands.cfg under
/usr/local/nagios/etc

I am pretty new to Nagios and set up a box up in our data center. Right
now, we pay yearly licensing for some other software which I feel is not
that great and from what I have read and the little I have worked with
