Lengo o arquivo /usr/local/nagios/var/nagios.log, encontro linhas tipo:

Mas entrando pela interface WEB do Nagios, em relatórios, log de eventos, me
mostra o seguinte:

O numero 1265720776 é a quantidade de segundos deste 01/01/1970. Se
voce fizer a conta, verá que é 09-02-2010 11:14:47.

do evento, em formato UTC (Universal Time Coordinator).

By returning to using $SERVICEOUTPUT$ and placing this towards the beginning of
the printf output - see below - I now get the EventLog text into the
notification email. I lose the Additional Info: text literal at the end of
the email so presumably there is a fixed size
