Hey, I want to get informations about the traffic of the port 1 from my cisco switch which understands SNMP. So I installed Nagios, the nagios plugins, snmpd, snmp and mrtg. I use the check_mrtgtraf command in my switch.cfg to do this. After installing mrtg like described at http://oss.oetiker.
