Joe, maybe you can debug the problem with the debug archive of ndo2db (you
set it in the configuration file, and you also set the debug level and
verbosity). There you can even see the queries sent to the database, and the
errors they generate. I'm using Nagios 3.0 and NDO1.4b7 and I've no
problems

the option you modified refers to the interval for checking for external
commands in the Nagios external command file. The option you are looking for
seems to be retry_interval (present in Nagios 3) in the service definition
itself (or in some of the templates the service definition uses).
Maybe you can send the sms inside the check_daily.sh script. You can't
use the notification logic (particularly, you can't use the service
contacts configuration), but it's a very simple mechanism, done from
inside the Nagios daemon. That's what I'm actually doing for a "I'm OK"
notification. T
