I recently upgraded to nagios 2.0 (I preferred not to use any of the betas because it would involve upgrading multiple times). I upgraded to NSCA 2.5 also in this process, but my machine which is a firewall on a NAT uses send_nsca and it appears to be functioning properly. Also, my machine that runs nagios and does all the reporting is actually receiving the traffic, and can be observed on tcpdump. However, I am not getting any signs of life in log files /var/log/messages or /usr/local/nagios/var/nagios.log. NSCA is running on the machine, and the port is open. The rw directory of nagios is accessible to the NSCA user also.
