I got installed the nsclient++ on a Windows XP Professional but the system tray is not showing up in the taskbar. I'm telneting to the localhost on port 5666 to see if its l;istening and no answer. Is this the correct agetn for Windows XP? Thanks for the inputs. --

You can also try out NC_NET. It works with check_nt or its own version check_nc_net that offers many enumeration commands as well as event log, remote script running and WMI querries. It is availible on Sourceforge http://sourceforge.net/projects/nc-net there is a link to this in nagiosexchange

I use SNMP to monitor our Windows boxes. It's included by Microsoft in the OS. All you have to do is install and configure it to your environment. I suggest locking it down so that only your Nagios server can query it. There are several good SNMP plug-ins for Windows boxes on nagiosexchange. A
