Surprised to see this tube go at 1,340.00 EUR, a good deal based on
previous CD47 auctions I've seen in the last two years (given that I've
only seen 4 or 6 sold?).

During my daily spelunking for Nixie tubes, I saw that the person working
on making the JP47 seems to be selling 2 prototype tubes.
Not a cheap tube, but compared to CD47s it seems more reasonable.

I'll get a neon testing wand (or a plasma globe) and test if they are

Jan mentioned they were poisoned, so I was operating on that assumption,
but if they are indeed outgassed that will be quite unfortunate.

This is a nixie tube, specifically a B-5441. It looks like there is some
trouble getting the cathodes to fully light and it is missing the blue haze
around numerals that other B-5441s seem to have.

Does anyone have any leads (or is willing to sell) nixie tubes with smooth
tops? I am looking for tubes in the same form as IN-18 but want something
other than an IN-18.
I know about tubes like NL-900, NL-5440A, or B-5441A, but I haven't found

I'm struggling to get my head around this. But considering the following
setup for a nixie tube, wouldn't the voltage across the cathode transistor
be close to 0? Most of the voltage should be dropped across the tube
itself, with the remained dropped across the current-limiting resistor,
right?
I'm relatively new to the nixie scene, but I already love these neon tubes.
I'm really interested in nixies with smooth or round tops though. I have
some IN-14s just to prototype with, but I'd like my finished product to
look more polished. I'm aware of IN-18s, but not quite comfortable with
