When you solder sockets to a pcb, you need to have a dummy plug [they were used for normal valve work] or a 'standard' nixie plugged in. The socket pins [of good sockets] can move around a bit. Before pcbs it didn't matter so much. With ordinary valves there are specialised sockets for pcb use.
