This question came up on the TCA reflector. What was a socket with 9 outer circle pins (like a 12AX7 tube) and also 3 extra inner “circle” pins made for? Some jumped in and said NL8xx Nixies. I said no, they all have 10 outer pins with even gaps and usually 3 inner pins. I dimly remember the question about these 12 pin sockets coming up here before. But I don’t remember if there was any answer on what they were for. I know some of the biquinary (NL7025?) and seven segment VFDs use standard 9 pin miniature (12AX7) tube sockets. Any info on the 12 pin sockets? Tim Laing
