I would like SNMP to report MemTotal - (MemFree + Buffers + Cached),
which, from what I've read, would give me an accurate reading on how
much resident memory is actually being used by programs, with no caching
or buffers involved.
MemTotal: 1032920 kB
MemFree: 68440 kB
Buffers:

Is there a way to make SNMP report memory usage for a linux server that
does not include in memory disk cache/buffers? We're trying to get an
accurate accouting of system memory usage, but all linux based hosts we
have report memory usage as pegged, even if the host isn't busy. Thanks
for any tips.
Hmm... Yes I forgot about the -A -X options and that, along with the -e,
allows me to configure the remote security name and parameters but now
other issues are more observant.
1. The initial concern about a security name collision in the snmpd usm
table is real. This means I need different secu
I have red hat enterprise 4 update 4, and I have compiled source net-snmp

When I execute the command: snmpnetstat -c public -a localhost, don't show
all open ports, like 22 (ssh), 80 (http).
When I execute the command: snmpwalk -c public localhost tcp, don't show all
open ports, like 22 (ss
Greetings all,
Here is the scenario: I have (lightly) modified a version of snmpd - 5.2.3
(under debian) to listen to RT-NETLINK and thereby trigger "monitor" items
for link up/down status immediately instead of using the "-r " option.
I now receive traps immediately the port link status change
Hi...I've encountered a situation, and before I go on too long, let me say I
have a mod I've made to the agent_trap module here to fix it, and I'm more than
happy to provide that "fix" (such as it is).
Leaving alone the operationally suboptimal aspects of using V1 TRAPs, we have a
situation whe

Probably, yes.
Have you seen the tutorial page
" TRAPs vs INFORMs for SNMPv3"
I am wondering if I am missing something with v3 trap/informs in 5.3.1
and 5.4. In particular, is there a security name collision between the
local snmpd and the remote snmptrapd?
If I want to configure snmpd to send informs with security I use a
trapsess configuration command like this:
trapse
Hi,

Please see the FAQ entries:
How do I add a MIB to the tools?
