Tanisha,
In that case when you installed the net-snmp v5.4.2.1 package, it would have
overridden the net-snmp v 5.0.9 executables. Now when you uninstall it, it
will uninstall net-snmp , and net-snmp v 5.0.9 that was earlier present,
would not be restored. So you will have to reinstall the net-snm
the source package was already installed

Installing the net-snmp v5.4.2.1 might have already overridden the net-snmp
v 5.0.9 installation, so you might need to reinstall the net-snmp v 5.0.9
package. Also an important point to know, would be whether the original v
5.0.9 was available as a source package or was already installed?

Is the Net-SNMP library designed in a way to "survive" a restart cycle of snmpd
daemon?
I am facing a problem when my AgentX subagent stops sending traps after the
snmpd daemon has been restarted. The subagent is a part of other program (log
server) so it is not desirable for it to require a re

Hi,
I am currently working on Sunfire v245, solaris 10 machine. I had installed
net-snmp v 5.4.2.1
However I need to go back to net-snmp v 5.0.9 that comes with the machine. For
that I need to uninstall the new version.
Please provide me pointers to do the same since the machine is a server and

Hello!
I have the case:
1. run snmpd (machine_A)
2. run subagent (machine_B): the agent successfully registered mibs, I can
get it with snmpwalk, for example.
3. force reset machine_B: just push reset button on the computer
- netstat shows the connection betweeen snmpd and my agent is

Which version of the agent? On what O/S?
I believe that releases 5.3.x (and before) would use the mibII/* modules
by default. But I have a strong suspicion that this changed with 5.4.x

Thanks a lot Dave
One more clarification :
By default net-snmp agent will be "UP" based on "agent/mibgroup/mibII"

To support alternative one We need to exclusively call the "init"
function of respective MIB ???

Hi ALL,
I have some doubt regarding the mib support under "agent/mibgroup".
As under the "agent/mibgroup/mibII" there
are function to respective
ip/ interface/ ip-forward/ ipv6/ tcp/ udp mibs
Again there are different module respective to the above Mibs in
