Strange inconsistencies - 5.4.2.1 vs. 5.6.1 - or is it just me?

I have two different servers, one with 5.4.2.1 and the other with 5.6.1rc2. In both cases, I built for only the applications (snmpget, walk, Perl libs, etc.) and don't use snmpd. On both, I have the same set of MIB files in /usr/local/share/snmp/mibs (I copied the files from the 5.4.2.1 system t
