Hi, I'm using snmpd as a proxy to handle all my devices polling from a restricted environment to the production environment. Something like 1400 devices. And I found that I can set up up to 1010 devices without any problem. But as soon as I enter more devices, the daemon does not start anymore,

Yep, you're right. Been able to set it correctly on Ubuntu 14.04 (/etc/security/limits.conf), but the same configuration does not seem to work on Ubuntu 16.04. Trying to figure out why. Thanks for pointing this out. ---
