Unfortunately there is not a general solution for this problem. For Cisco IOS switches the vlanTrunkPortDynamicStatus (.1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.46.1.6.1.1.14) provides the information you're looking for, provided what you mean by 'trunking' is ISL trunking. Sometimes people include non-trunk uplinks in what they mean by 'trunking'. If this is the case, analysis of the CDP mib shows switch to router or switch to switch bridged connectivity. Note that the above table will be empty if no vlans are configured on the switch, regardless of whether there are ports configured as trunks.
Other switch vendors will provide this information in other vendor mibs. Dave David R.
