Hi All!
I am trying to set up 3 sub-agents that can forward their messages to a
master-agent, which in turn can be used by an external NMS. As you can
probably tell, I don't really know anything about SNMP, but I have had a
pretty good read, and it seems that AgentX is for me?
What I have so far is this...
For the master agent - it will need a line in the /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf
file - "master agentx".
All of the other boxes will be running as "sub agents" and will be
sending the snmp information to the "master agent" via the default port
705.
They can be invoked by using the command "snmpd -X".
Am I on the right lines with this as a start? The next issue if that is
correct is I need the configuration to occur in the config logs, not by
passing parameters when starting the process.
Any suggestions/help/advice would be extremely useful!
Many thanks,
Aaron
