I have net-snmp 5.2rc4 installed on a linux box (running 2.4.28). It shows loopback and ethernet interfaces just fine, but it is always showing:
IF-MIB::ifOperStatus.3 = INTEGER: down(2) when it should be up. The interfaces are indeed up and working just fine. The counters for the interface increase, only the ifOperStatus is wrong. This happens for both hdlc0 and pvc0.
