Music, Various

Terrible news coming from Ukraine...

Two recent pieces, music, perhaps not quite likeable -
but they're who I am and I realize, they're a kind of useless
response to war - they keep me going - perhaps too egoistic -

Flathills guitar

My 1917 Martin terz playing up the neck and hand reversal,
bringing out the melodic/percussive aspects of the instrument,
the square-topped frets help a lot with the highs. The terz
was found in Maine, very poor shape with an added tailpiece,
now returned somewhat to the original condition. The old
repairs included nails which are still there. Do enjoy this
music. The noise elements are deliberate. I feel satori coming
on (does satori ever "come on"?) when I play this. Breathless!
Enjoy. (Recorded with a Sony RX10 using the built-in mics.
Video by Azure Carter.)

building on Flathills guitar with the Martin terz, here's a new
piece with the East German Musima guitar - very large, with
strings tuned almost down to the bass. It doesn't rattle; thanks
to Rachel Rosenkrantz, it's in perfect condition. A slight echo
was added; I was playing on a rug in a dead space and it's not
Webern. There are two earlier pieces after the first two, played
back on the couch. The four are only 18'56" total. At the end,
an image of my nails, which wore down in those 18'56" - now I
need to coat them again. Love playing like this! Enjoy!
