Digital Design Drop-in: Zoe Papadopoulou Saturday 24 November, 13.00 - 16.00 Free, drop-in Room 57, British Galleries, V&A Zoe Papadopoulou, a graduate of the RCA, is an artist who works with collaborators from a variety of disciplines - including designers, scientists and ethicists, to stimulate discussion and engagement in new technology and scientific developments. Her work has brought together people as broadly as the Government's former Chief Scientist and Gastronomists, and engaged groups as broadly as visitors to Beijing's first Design Triennale through to primary school children. Zoe's projects enable specialists to use her work or new approaches to reach new and wider audiences. Zoe will present 'The Cloud Project', work which discusses the implications of nanotechnology, and what it could mean to our weather, our food, and other aspects of our lives. Also being shown is her latest work, 'Reproductive Futures', a Wellcome Trust funded project exploring what developments in fertility might mean to children in the future. For this project, Zoe collected extensive research on reproductive technologies, which she recently presented at the A.N.D. Festival in Manchester. This work charts the key milestones in our understanding of human reproduction, and shows the techniques that promise, once unimagined reproductive opportunities - irrespective of age, sexuality, family circumstance, challenges in conceiving or carrying a child to-term…or even gender. http://www.zoeworks.co.uk Digital Futures Digital Studio, Sackler Centre Tuesday 27 November 11.00 - 16.00 Free, Drop-in Digital Futures is a new monthly programme offering MA and PhD students from digital media / computational / interactive arts & digital design courses a platform to show and share their work with fellow artists, technologists and the public, as well as a space to network and nurture discussion and future collaborations between participants. The showcase includes interactives, sound, digital design, wearables, data visualisations and more. Participating artists: Camille Baker & Kate Sicchio,Yen-Ting Cho, Sandra Fruebing, Christiana Kazakou, Fabio Lattanzi Antinori, Marco Monterzino, Owl and the Abacus (Adam Charlton & Raju Rahman), Francesca Perona, Nicola Plant. Sessions can include open research workshops or other presentation ideas as well as visitor feedback and input. He is engaged in thinking about processes of re-materialisation, specifically materials that are normally destined to become waste products. Alkesh is the creative founder of APeel Materials, a company which up-cycles citrus rind (a by-product from industrial juice processing plants) into a bio-composite material. http://alkeshparmar.com/
