Hello again,
I tried without X, same thing. Yes, it is the nvidia chip unfortunately.
I noticed the machine does come up, and I can type commands blindly into
the console(I can for example reboot). With that said, I don't think
it's the backlight not turning up since I tried bringing it up manuall

I just bought an old Thinkpad R61 laptop, fixed it up to working order
and installed NetBSD 6.1.3(amd64) on it.
Unfortunately there are a few glitches, the most annoying being the
suspend/resume system not working. The machine appears to suspend
properly, but when I bring it up again I jus
