I found a page that has examples of how to use this thing.
I can now archive stuff. Of particular interest: A SYSTEMWIDE BACKUP?
Just to make is easier to execute the examples:
A symlink borg ---> borg-3.8
Now it does not matter which program name you use.

If it is in pkgsrc, there shouldn't be any need to keep it in wip.

It says it is the real thing.

sysutils/py-borgbackup.
I hit borgbackup, org. It said its part of pkgsrc.
I did a search with 'pkgfind'. I found a GUI for borgbackup in pkgsrc/wip,
but no borgbackup. Where is it? I am building my own GUI tool in pTk
for common root admin tasks. It would be cool to make system-backup
an option...

Check https://www.borgbackup.org/ and https://restic.net/ out.
Both do a great job using compression, deduplication and encryption.

More thoughts on "bacula".
The thing is quite involved. I got the *pdf files downloaded.
Is there a simple way to get this thing running?
Do any of these programs (besides bacula) allow backup varification?
Thats why I purchased bru 10yrs ago. NetBSD backup stuff has come
A LOONNNG way since the
I am playing with "bacula". I had no idea that it was so advanced, and
widely used.
My big thing is I need something to replace "bru" (I bought it around
2005). I needed to
add binary-compatibility to the kernel config. Bru allows comparison
so I dont get caught
off-guard.
I find the config stuff

There are many strategies to do this. Investigate dump/restore,
I acquired a 500MB disk from a lappy.
Ideas for a package to do system-wide backups?
Can I put the backup in a specific dir -- ORRR must I use the entire disk?
