Sounds like a bug, or you're getting (buffer) drops in the udp perhaps?
If cpu is spiking like that, sounds like another fool bug in the
platform. Haven't seen snmp kill a 6k in a while, nexus seems perpetual
in contrast, but I'd still check your code for snmp spike issues. I've
discovered recently against 6k's (on older code) with a new build of
netdisco for a client and not seen this in their versions with a fair
amount of mac's as well to have to suck down.

I'll have to see what I can do, as our Authoritative DNS Server is a
PowerDNS 2.9.22 with LDAP backend. (Split Horizon is not supported.)

I don't think that's what was suggested. You'd have A and AAAA records for
somehost.private.example.com - which will of course be within the
private.example.com zone of your DNS. Any DNS servers hosting
private.example.com will have both records.
Now, this may be enough - though most will not want to make
somehost.private.example.com "visible" in the DNS to the rest of the world -
even though the firewall will prevent anyone actually connecting to it. So that
means you need a mechanism to avoid "exporting" that information.

Several ways of doing it, of which those are just 2.
Ideally all your internal clients should use an internal caching resolver. That
way you a) have control over the DNS in use, and b) you get the benefits of
caching.
If you do have this, then one option is to simply define private.example.com on
the internal resolver - either as a hosted zone (ie master or slave), or simply
with a forwarder instruction to another server that does host it. Then
example.com can simply be hosted normally.
This way, internal devices will be able to resolve
somehost.private.example.com, but external devices won't.
Another alternative is simply apply permissions. So example.com is hosted
normally and accessible to everyone, but private.example.com has restrictions
so that anyone but your internal clients will be refused service.
Since private.example.com and example.com are different, you don't need split
horizon to make it work - only a means of keeping private.example.com private
(if you need/want to do so).

Hello,
I am trying to run a arpnip/macsuck from Cisco 877's however i am unable to
do so in Netdisco 1.3.
For some reason Cisco 877's do not work with Macsucks and arpnips, and show
connected hosts. Is there any reason why it should not work on Cisco 877s?
Has anyone come accross this?
I had suggestions to change it from being detected as Layer3::Cisco device
to Layer3::C3550 or Layer3::C6500 but still dont pickup anything
Here is a debug of macsuck and arpnip off a 877. Anyone can give any clue
to get the hosts working and displaying as connected devices? Thanks in
advance
