1. Netdisco behind a Firewall (Christopher Doolan)
--- Begin Message ---
Hi Guys, the issue I am experiencing is that the Netdisco installed behind a
firewall cannot connect to a test switch using netdisco-do -discover.
info discover: status defer: discover failed: could not SNMP connect to ...
However, the dev netdisco that I use at my desk is able to connect to the test
switch using netdisco-do -discover.
Info discover: status done: Ended discover for .....
This would appear to be a Firewall issue, however the switch has an ACL
configure to limit what SNMP can connect to it and I am not sure if this is the
problem even though both IP addresses are in the ACL.
What I would like to do is use snmpget to try and connect to the test switch
from both Netdiscos, but I found that dev netdisco cannot be connect using
snmpget, which complicates things.
Here is an example of the snmpget command I have been trying to use on dev
netdisco.
snmpget -v 2c -c [my community] xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx sysobjectID.0
Shouldn't this work if the community is the same as what is in the Netdisco
deployment.yml?
Device_auth:
- tag: 'default_v2_readonly'
community: '[my community]'
read: true
write: false
What am I missing?
Regards
Chris Doolan
