I know that nm-applet shows the result of scans every 2 minutes. I think that this was discussed lots of times. I just wanted to ask a question. why it is not acceptable to do scans also every time I left-click on the applet, to show updated results? Or at least add a "refresh list" button... this

ipw2200: nm thinks that networks are present even if the card is off

what is the dbus command org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.setWirelessEnabled intended to be? If it prevents wireless to be used, the applet should deactivate wireless options by automatically unchecking "enable wireless" ___ L'ema

Definitely Yes! Oh, and also "new wireless networks found" maybe only when the user is not connected to any connection... And you told me it is easy to check if the ip is a zeroconf ip through the applet -> connection information. In my opinion it should be more evident, such as a "Z" in the icon.
