Did you installed usb-modeswitch? Ubuntu Lucid uses usb-modeswitch
1.1, which is ***very*** different from the version used in Lucid.

And also usb_modeswitch-data if Ubuntu is similar to Fedora. The data
package is new with the 1.1.x versions.
