as I catch up on my reading.) for opening this thread.
While I go into my Ubuntu and run the updates that are always waiting,
my hopes that whatever is totally _not_ working with nm will begin working
are regularly dashed.

A simple, possibly dumb question. Is nm meant mainly or only for wireless
connections?
Since I have only a cable connection to my router, and use an AppleTalk
(netatalk) connection to the Macs on my network, I hoped and assumed
nm would show them.
Also wondering...is this the same app as is listed
I installed NM in my Ubuntu (Dapper), and use netatalk so my Linux drive
shows up on my Macintosh (PPC 6500). Even though the connection is working
over my network, the menubar icon shows No Network Connection when I pass
the mouse over it.
Is there something more than installing NM that I have to
