[newbie] need help with X-config

Hi I been trying to config X and not having much luck i have an ATI xpert 128 pci video card and an philps 109S monitor and it seem i have try so many settings but not doing something right if someone could tell me what settings i hould be adding and where thi would be an big help thanks in advan
