To untar all of the files in the tar file you would
use this command:
tar xvf gnome-chess-2.2.0.tar
The will probably be a README and an INSTALL file
telling you step by step how to install the program

A good place to start is to get a book on samba(try an orielly book). At my

Go to rpmfind.net for the rpm for ssh rpm or www.ssh.fi for the ssh homepage
and download the source code tarball. As for the cablemodem did you name
machine what the cable company told you to?

Make sure that you have the gcc compiler installed, and make sure it is in a
directory that is in you PATH.
If all else fails use this command, it might take a while depending on the
speed of your computer but if it exists it will find it:
find / -name gcc

Here is a ghetto way of doing of it, but it will work. Just hookup the SCSI
drive while installing
the OS and then add the IDE after setting up the machine. I'm sure there is
a better way of doing it but this
should work.

for the Internal boxes is IP of eth1 which is
192.168.1.1, the internal network is 192.168.1.x, so I
don't know why DNS is not working.

Try Freshmeat.net and use the search feature there are plenty of options.
