[newbie] samba started but status says it is stopped

Hello although i give the command 'samba start', samba status says it is stopped and i do not see the computer on the net. Here is my smb.conf ... : [global] printing = bsd printcap name = /etc/printcap load printers = yes guest account = Etsoft null passwords = yes log file = /usr/local
