Hi Victor: I had a simular cituation. I have an IBM Aptiva. I installed the Mandrake 7.0 several times and when it came to X my system froze up. The only way I got around this was to install Mandrake 7.0 as and upgrade. After that X configured I''m able to readjust my monitor rate now.
