check to see that you are using the SMP Kernel.

I just went through some un-believably long and convoluted problems
all because "I was sure the SCSI HD" was terminated. Be sure of the
basics before you blame the drivers. I could not load Mandrake,
Storm, SuSE or Red Hat with similar but different symptoms.

Finally, a question I can answer... (Feeling really green and
understanding about half of what is posted.)
Win2K type: "ipconfig" (for the short version) or "ipconfig /all" for
the long. "ipconfig /?" gives all the possible uses.
