[newbie] Problems with xinetd, telnet, and mandrake 7.2

2001-02-09 Thread Kevin Tambascio
Hello, I wanted to have the telnet service running under Mandrake 7.2. This box is not used for anything secure, so I don't worry about telnet and clear passwords. I read up on xinetd, and added a file called telnet to my /etc/xinetd.d directory. that file looks like this: # default: on #

Has anyone had any problems with KMail? I use KMail to just read my email, not delete it from the POP server. However, after upgrading to Beta 2 from 2.0.1, I found that I was getting multiple copies of the same email everytime the email was checked. Is there a new setting or something that I

Re: [newbie] Tell Grub that I 've a new kernel

I have the same card at home, and I was able to use it with the driver from the website. I don't remember what version that I used though. The driver on the installation disk didn't work at all, but the one I downloaded does. Mine built fine, and then installing it was simple, using the

[newbie] 2.2.18 Kernel for Mandrake

2000-12-13 Thread Kevin Tambascio
I would like to upgrade to the 2.2.18 kernel to try and get my USB scanner working under Linux. I looked in the Mandrake 7.2 updates folder, as well as the Cooker FTP site (it seems like they only have 2.4.x kernels), but I couldn't find the source. Should I download the kernel from
