The ramdisk error is caused by downloading the file as anything other
than binary ( netscape and some ftp clients don't). When I first
downloaded the 7.1 iso I did it with Netscape and got the error when I
tried to install. I ftp'd the file and it worked fine.
Some of our users want to try Linux
'll take me a few days before I can try a new ISO - I'll try to report
back.
Let me know if anyone figures this one out!

I finally realized the problem with the ramdisk error. If you download
with Netscape ftp it does not download as a binary file. The iso file is
bad. You have to use ftp an ftp program that can download as a binary.
Re-burn the disk with the binary iso file and it will work.

The Tulip driver is older and while it works with the Netgear card it may not
be included in new distros(I'm not sure about that). I'm running the same same
card on several Mandrake 7.0 machines at work and I'm using the Via Rhine
driver. It comes with the install disk so you should be able to
I am getting the same error message. I have an AMD 750MHz with IDE hard
drive and CD running the paid for version of Mandrake 7.0. I created a CD
from the 7.1 ISO file and tried an install by booting from CD. I get the
"error loading ramdisk". It then reboots and if I remove the CD it boots 7.0
Depending on what software you are using there should be a selection somewhere
to "create a CD from a disk image". Just navigate to the ISO file, select it,
and away you go.
Windoze is ok with disk image files.
