Try out IglooFTP
or perhaps gftp .. I prefer IglooFTP cause of the cool icons... You
probably have that installed already.. type IglooFTP from a console to find
out.

i dont understand what the opperating screen is supposed to look like
when im done installing, but all i get is a command promt. i cant get
gnome or kde or anything to come up.
Yeah, so I avoided doing a fresh install because I need to take my laptop
apart to remove the mouse everytime I install... You need to install a C
compiler... either install pgcc , pgcc - c++, pgcc-obj and dependencies from
your CD, of ftp

Opps.. dang computers, make me look like a fool.. lols. alright so i got the
wrong package Downloaded gcc-r.95.2-4.i586.rpm and installed with all
dependencies... No worries... tried configuring mysql again, this time it
tells me:

checking whether the C compiler (gcc
from Xserver you can use Ctrl F1-F4 for switching your desktop.. to get to
another console press Ctrl Alt F6, then Alt F1 (which is the console that
Xserver is running on) all the way up to Alt F7, five more consoles to log
in with..

gnomeicu ... rpm inculede on your disk.

The RPM (redhat package manager) has a package, gnomeicu that is an icq
clone.. easy to install and set up.. ICQ me if you like . my icq no. is
