I just got Linux (Mandrake 6.0/KDE) running on my home-PC.
Purpose = to do some simple Perl/PHP scripting and test before
shipping it to our Intranetserver at my work (which is run by
professional Solaris gurus....:-).
I posted the problem below to a Perl group since I thought it was Perl
problems,
but got a nice and quick answer that it was Linux related.
Problem :
Perl should be installed in the Mandrake installation (I think) and
seems to be (?) but the
perl -v command returns:
perl: warning: Setting locale failed.
perl: warning: Please check that your locale settings:
LANGUAGE = (unset),
LC_ALL = "se_SE",
LANG = "se"
are supported and installed on your system.
perl: warning: Falling back to the standard locale ("C").
This is perl, version 5.005_03 built for i386-linux....
.......
and it continues with the greeting text (6-7 lines)I read in my
Linux/Perl books for beginners.
Now ....what is the "locale" problem and what do I do? Where do I check
and set??
Seems to me to have something to do with my choice of language during
installation ( I picked my lang = swedish since it was an installation
option...probably shouldn´t have or what do you think...)
