Hello Newbie-List !

I tried to install Mandrake 7.2 on my AMD K6-2 400 with a Tyan Trinity
Board and 196 MB RAM on the second HDD from my Mitsumi 24Speed CD-Rom
(autoboot).
Everything is going fine and fast until i choose the packages. When it
wants to install the packages i selected (i tried different amounts) it has
a very slow access to my CD-ROM. An installation of Linux only (no other
packages) needs about two hours to be finished. It thinks about every file
to copy from CD-ROM a few seconds before it does copy it. The CDs are clean
and without any scratches.
Has anyone any idea why this happens?

I thought about installing Mandrake from my HD, but i am not sure what
directories i need. How do i have to do that ?

I am totally new to Linux so please be kind ;-)

Thanks for all help!

Best regards
Tom
