Hello
I've just installed Mandrake 7.0 and I have
encountered a problem with gdm.
When /etc/sysconfig/desktop contains the word GNOME
and I give `telinit 5`at any shell prompt a blue
screen appears and then it goes blanc again and then
the blue screen reappears. This happens again and
again and the only way to stop it is pressing Alt-F1
and immediately Alt-Ctrl-Del which causes a restart.
When using kdm (echo KDE >/etc/sysconf/desktop)
nothing of these happens. I've examined
/var/log/messages and no error appears in there. Also
there is no entry in /var/log/xdm-error.log and
~/.xsession-errors.
I've also verified the rpm package using rpm --verify
gdm and no error message appears.
I know one of your answers will be "just use kdm" but
I want to see how gdm looks (you could send me a
screenshot perhaps:)
I don't know what is wrong and I don't know where to
look for configuration errors. Need help.
Thanks
Bye
