Hi Folks,
Okay, I decided to reinstall 10.1 PPC via ftp, as the 1st iso image does
not have everything on it that I want available at first boot. I
installed the first time by changing the yaboot.conf file to load the
kernel and ramdisk from an hfs partition on hda2, and then I installed
the system from my local ftp server. I mounted the disk1 iso image as a
loopback on the ftp server.

So now I am running a network install as before but using the mirrors
already listed in the installer, rather than my local source. None of
the mirrors have my 2.6 kernel modules! The module tarballs on the
mirrors are all for the 2.4 kernels. ??? I browsed the ftp mirrors
from another machine, and I can't find those 2.6 kernel modules.

I could just get the other iso images and put them all on my local ftp
server to install from there again, but then how do I know what
repository I'm supposed to use for additional packages?

Am I mistaken that 10.1 is a release, and there should be everything I
need under a 10.1/ppc tree somewhere on one of the mirrors? Or is 10.1
ppc still a moving target?

My disk1 iso that I downloaded isn't marked as devel or beta or
anything. Have I grabbed a prerelease iso?

I'm pretty happy with Mandrake ppc so far, I've used 586 in the past. X
took some trickery, but I got the framebuffer to work. I apparently
didn't have fbset from only disk1, so I couldn't tweak it. Also the
bootloader install clobbered my OSX bootstrap ability, but the OSX
installer fixed that. I don't care, I can run yaboot from OpenFirmWare
easy enough.

Thanks for any tips,

Lincoln
