ok, i upgraded to 8.1, as expected my desktp is ruined, but i have a backup of ~/Deskop/.directory nad after exiting kde i copy this over, onlt when i log onto kde again the desktop is unchanged and the contents of ~/Desktp/.directory unchanged also, howcome? what is rewriting it back? and i copied the backup over as root -kept the permissions the same though
