Hi, I've finally found a way around the USR Professional Message Modem's inability to negotiate a successful ppp connection with the PMM answer machine facility disabled.
As it happens this was done within two separate terminal sessions, though there's no reason (with the second "ATZ" removed) why it can't be accomplished within a single session: ATZ AT&F1+MCA=0 AT&W AT&MCW ATZ ATS0=0 AT&W AT+MCW Michael
