Most systems will set things up to read DOS disks (using Fat as the option in fstab). If you insist on using linuxconf to check this stuff, look under the "options" tab and it will tell you the type of file system it's looking for. In my opinion, as long as you've got a dual-boot system, all your stuff should be stored on Fat systems as Linux is smart enough to read/write them and you can also read the stuff in Windows.
