List, I just got done with the hardware upgrade from hell. I now have a Xaser III case: FIC AU15 mobo (Nvidia chipset) AwardBios 6.00pg ver TFA43 Asylum 8x agp video card (nvidia chipset) base on GEForce MX4000 ver 4.18.20.36.00 Athlon XP 2700 (166Mhz X 13) My old crucial pc2100 ram. I know but I am short of dough. Maybe a config issue here. Now my problems, While going through the motions (tired), The machine was up and kudzu was prompting me what to do with the new hardware detected. Boo. I thing I didn't tell it to set up my video card correctly and it is detected as a PCI card using the nv driver and harddrake doesn't detect/display my keyboard. I am now experiencing intermitent lockups (memory has crossed my mind but its crucial and under a year old). I'll be away from my machine and the screensaver comes on and I can't use the mouse or keyboard to clear it but I can use the <ALT><Sysrqt>r,s,e,i,u,b/o to reboot/off the box. It also locks up when I apparently open something up (e.g. terminal) with other windows on the desktop. Again, I can use the <ALT><Sysrqt><keysequence> to get out of the problem. I have nolapic and noapic set in lillo, but in the bios, I am not sure about how to set the power saving to work with mdk/xorg software eg dpms or not to dpms. I'm using the latest rpms from Charles site for Xorg. How can I make mdk redetect my hardware with/without having to reboot? Any other suggestions?
