You have to load the NVIDIA_kernel driver AND the
NVIDIA_GLX driver.
The fact that you only mentioned the GLX driver makes
me suspicious.
In a terminal type:
lsmod
And see if you the driver Nvidia is listed. If not,
you do not have the kernel module loaded. You need to
install NVIDIA_kernel
