for compatibility issues / changing hardware / removable usb devices etc... when recompiling the kernel, is it better to have the versions on modules symbols set or not? I've yet to successfully recompile one and I think this might be why...
Also, when recompiling with ALSA (sound) durring which part of kernel compilation do you configure alsa? (ie... between make config and make dep? between make dep and make clean? etc..) Hope someone can clue me in, the Kernel-HOWTO and the alsa HOWTO seem a little vague in areas. Thanks in advance.
